Learning Support

Every child learns differently, and we're committed to supporting each student as they grow. This might mean helping a student build their English skills, providing extra support for a learning difference, or both.

How We Support Our Students

Some of our students are still building confidence in English. Others benefit from extra support because of a learning difference. Some benefit from both, at different times. BrightSteps has a dedicated learning support teacher who works with students across both areas, in close partnership with classroom teachers.

Support usually takes one of two forms, depending on what a student needs: accommodations and extra attention within the regular classroom, or focused small group sessions outside the classroom for more targeted help.

English Language Learners

Many of our students come from homes where English is not the primary language spoken. To help these students build confidence and fluency in English while keeping pace with their classmates, our learning support teacher provides both in-classroom support and small group lessons focused on core English skills.

Learning Differences

For students with a learning difference, our learning support teacher works with families and classroom teachers to put helpful accommodations in place, and offers small group sessions for more focused support when it's needed.

Our Approach to Every Learner

We respect each student's unique path with personalized attention and a mindset of growth and resilience. Our teachers get to know each child as an individual, so that support feels natural and encouraging rather than singling a student out.
